Each of Virginia's forty state senators are citizen-legislators and represent approximately 180,000 citizens. State senators serve four-year terms and receive an annual salary of approximately $18,000.
Virginia's 38th Senatorial District includes all of Bland, Buchanan, Dickenson, Pulaski, Russell, and Tazewell counties; and Part of Smyth and Wise counties. For more information on any of these localities, click on the images below:
Parts of the Thirty-Eighth Senatorial District are also represented in the Virginia General Assembly by Delegate Clarence E. "Bud" Phillips (D-2nd), Delegate James W. "Will" Morefield (R-3rd), Delegate Joseph P. Johnson, Jr. (D-4th), Delegate Charles W. Carrico, Sr. (R-5th), Delegate Anne B. Crockett-Stark (R-6th), and Delegate David A. Nutter (R-7th).
